You can make these Hush Puppies
                  many ways but the following  2 recipes 
                        seem to fit my tatse           

                             Hush Puppies

                   1 3/4  cups          yellow cornmeal
                    3/4  cup           flour
                   2      teaspoons     baking powder
                   1 1/2  teaspoons     salt
                   1/2  teaspoon      onion powder
                   1/2  cup           sugar
                   3/4  cup           milk
                   1                    egg
                   1      large         onion -- chopped fine
                   5                    green onions -- chopped
                   1/2  teaspoon      seasoned salt -- optional

           Mix all ingredients well in order given and drop by spoonfuls
           into hot deep lard.  Fry until light golden brown all over.
           Drain on paper towels.

                               Hush Puppies-2

                     1/2    cup           flour -- sifted
                     1 1/2  cups          white cornmeal
                     2      teaspoons     baking powder
                     3/4    cup           milk
                     1      tablespoon    sugar
                     1/2    teaspoon      salt
                     1      small         onion -- chopped fine
                     1                    egg -- beaten

Combine all ingredients.  Drop into hot oil, 1 teaspoon at a time, until 
golden brown.  Serve while hot with fish.
